Surrey and Surrounding Area League 2022
General
- The League will be held in accordance with the IFP/USAPA Official Tournament Rulebook. A copy of the Rulebook is available online. Click Here
- All players must be a registered member of pickleballEngland and self-rate
- All players are asked to abide by the League etiquette Click Here
- There may be no paramedic or first aiders so players enter at their OWN risk.
- PickleballEngland have the right to take pictures and record matches to use to promote the League and pickleballEngland. If you do not want to be featured, you must advise the League Directors.
League Format
- Each Team will nominate a Club Captain.
- There will be a Home and Away leg against each team.
- It is the responsibility of the Home Club Captain to offer three dates to the Away Club Captain. The Away Club Captain has 7 days to respond.
If the Away Team do not accept one of the dates offered, they will have to forfeit the match.
- Each fixture in each Division will have 2 courts booked for 2 hours. The fixtures should be scheduled to suit at times convenient to both Clubs but inline with the suggested timetable issued by the Directors at the beginning of the year.
- If a match is cancelled within 48 hours of it taking place, the Team who cancel will forfeit the match. A walkover will be awarded to the non-cancelling Team.
- Court costs will be shared between both teams.
- A proper kitchen line should be marked up (either painted or taped) unless the leisure facility, expressly forbids it. If it is forbidden to tape a proper kitchen line then the badminton service line should be used.
- The Home Team are responsible for providing balls and nets.
- Balls permitted are: Onix indoors, Franklin X26 indoors, Juggs Indoors, Penn Indoors, Gamma Photons. The choice of ball will be down to the Home Team. The choice of ball should be communicated in advance to the Away Team.
- At each fixture, each Team will bring 4 players consisting of 2 ladies and 2 men.
- There will be 6 matches with games to 15 points, win by 1.
- Matches will be:
- Mens' Doubles
- Ladies Doubles
- 1st Mixed
- 2nd Mixed
- 3rd Mixed
- 4th Mixed
- Teams should grade their players in order of strength. Example. A team consists of:
- John (strongest man)
- James
- Jane (strongest lady)
- Judy

- The points for each game will be awarded as follows:
- Win = 2 points
- Loss = 0 points
- There are a total of 12 points to be won in each fixture.
- Scores and tables will be managed via the pbE PETS 'League Standings and Results'.
- The two Team Captains at each fixture will input and verify the scores.
- League tables will be ordered by points scored (2 points for a win) in each fixture. Then points from the game points differential will be taken into account.

League Etiquette
- Team players to arrive promptly. If there are issues such as traffic, please notify your opponents.
- Be on court in a timely manner when you are due to play
- Limit warming up according to the instructions received on the evening
- Give your opponent time to get into position before you serve
- The server should clearly announce the score before they serve
- If the opponent claims there was a major distraction while hitting a shot (e.g. ball bouncing onto the court), don't hesitate to replay the point
- Please do not walk behind a court whilst a rally is in progress
- Please only call a ball out if it clearly is, if in doubt don't call it out!
- No time outs are permitted
- Kitchen line foot faults can be called by opposition
- Please refrain from swearing whilst on court
- Please do not throw your paddle
- Respect other users of the sports facilities
- Thank your opponents for the game
