What is Doubles League?

The intention of the doubles league is to give competitive players the ability to play once a month with players of a similar level from other clubs within their region, in a competition outside of tournaments.

We want the competition to be:

Finally, we want to raise some funds for pickleballEngland to help grow pickleball.

How it works

Players sign up and pay for session prior to the session.

Peter Thornton will manage the session and based on attendance will assign players to a court to ensure that skill is evenly balanced.

Players will play a minimum of 8 games and a maximum of 10 games on the day.

The order of play will be displayed for each court and one player per court will be asked to write the result of all the games on the order of play sheet.

The order of play ensures that each player plays with each player twice and against each player between 3 and 5 times (if there are 6 players).

The results of the matches will be populated into a league table for the night and will be published on the PickleballEngland website.

All the results will be consolidated into a cumulative speadsheet, which will award points for wins and losses based on which court players played on, to create an overall ranking table.  This ranking table will be used to determine which court players will be allocated to, based on attendance that month.

The format allows for players to move between groups based on their results.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Players accept that the League Leader will assign them to a court and they will play with everyone else assigned to that court for the evening.
  2. After the first league session, the results of prior league sessions will be leveraged to determine court assignments.
  3. The League Leader's decision is final.
  4. All players have to register and pay ahead of the session.  In the event that someone that has registered cannot play, a refund will only be made if a replacement can be found in time.
  5. Standby registrations will be accepted and this list will be used to find a replacement in the event someone cancels.
  6. If someone is on standby and doesn't get to play, they will be given the link to register for the following month's session several hours before everyone else, in an attempt to give them every chance to get into the following month's session.
  7. Players accept that pictures or video may be taken during the session and used by pickleballEngland.
  8. Cancellations within 5 days of the event date will not be refunded.
  9. All scores will be uploaded to DUPR, please create your account on dupr.com
