REGISTRATION FOR the 4th English OPEN

We are delighted to announce that registration for the Skechers English OPEN 2024 will open on Saturday 10th February at 11am. We are anticipating 1,500-2,000 players from over 35 countries attending, making the tournament, for the third year running the largest in Europe and the largest outside North America.
We have again secured Telford International Centre in Shropshire as the venue. We are hoping to recreate the wonderful atmosphere of last year's tournament whilst adding some new exciting elements. Last year's title sponsor Skechers, who helped to create such a fantastic event will be back again and we will once again be powered by the APP. We will work with the APP to attract Next Generation and Pro Players to the tournament.
Situated in the heart of the UK, Telford International Centre’s incredibly accessible location offers all the benefits of a city centre, without the hassle. Three huge event halls are complemented by a large range of break-out spaces – perfect for hosting some of the UK’s most prestigious sporting and corporate events.
The Centre and the new Event Quarter was created specifically for modern day events of all kinds. Sitting opposite the main venue, the Event Quarter features a host of restaurants, bars, hotels, and leisure facilities. Telford town centre is just a short walk away, providing further opportunities for entertainment and activities.
For those who prefer the great outdoors, the stunning Shropshire countryside provides breath-taking views and scenic distractions.
We have hired all 3 halls which will be event ready from Thursday 8th August through to Wednesday 14th August. There will be 40+ pickleball courts rolled out and secured providing all players with pickleball specific courts. No more distracting lines!
We wouldn't be able to run the event in the same way without the support of our fantastic sponsors. We will be announcing more sponsors in the coming weeks but you can be sure that the Franklin X40 will be the official ball of the tournament.
FRANKLIN PICKLEBALL - Franklin Pickleball manufacture a variety of pickleball equipment including paddles, bags, nets, training aids and balls. There will be prize money for the OPEN divisions, the exact prize money is still being worked on but will be higher than last year's. We are also going to create a prize fund for the Senior OPEN events too.
Event Schedule
Thursday 8th August 2024
This is a free event for all registered players, regardless of which events they are entered in. We are expecting to have many participating paddle brands on the day. Players sign up on the day to play for one paddle brand. Each paddle brand has a 'home' court for play and another for players to practice and try that brand's paddles.
It's a great opportunity for players to get in some recreational/practice play ahead of the English OPEN.
Each paddle brand will select players to represent them in league matches against the other paddle brands ('home' and 'away' fixtures). One men's doubles, one women's doubles and one mixed doubles match. First to 11 win by 1. Each match won wins a point. All the results will be input to create a league table showing total points and league position. At the end of the fixtures, league position will determin starting position for knockout rounds. Each paddle brand will select their team players for the knockouts.
There will be a prize fund for the event (details to be announced at a later date)

9am start. Players will receive their own schedule ahead of time and should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their first match.
Junior Event 8-11, 12-15 years [players register as individuals and will play with and against other registered players.] Top 3 players in the standings table win medals.
6pm-10pm - Self Managed Recreational Play for all registered players
Saturday 10th August 2024
Men's and Women's Doubles Events 18+, 35+, 45+ 3.0,3.5,4.0,4.5 and OPEN
9am start. Players will receive their own schedule ahead of time and should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their first match.
6pm-10pm - Self Managed Recreational Play for all registered players
Sunday 11th August 2024
Mixed Doubles Events 18+, 35+, 45+ 3.0,3.5,4.0,4.5 and OPEN
9am start. Players will receive their own schedule ahead of time and should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their first match.
Wheelchair Event [players register as individuals and will play with and against other registered players. Winners determined by standings table when all matches completed]. Top 3 in the table will win medals.
6pm - Tournament Social Mingle (more information later)
